At dusk return to X-RAY area, SPARTAN will provide A.A. protection, LOYAL and LAFOREY report to C.T.F.81.6 for A/S patrol. DIDO, TRIPPE, LUDLOW, GLEAVES and EDISON provide gunfire support in X-RAY area. All fire support ships operating X-RAY area guard 4105 kc/s. DIDO call-sign FS 20 on 4920. In Naples. Request you will detail SPARTAN as group support commander in PETER sector and DIDO in X-RAY sector.
2. I will arrange that in future relieved cruisers will overlap in order that a turnover of the area be made.
3. You requirements for A.A. fire from these ships and subsequently their positions takes precedence over their bombardment role or not at your discretion.
4. Unless you desire otherwise, I would prefer these ships to withdraw to westward before the normal time of the evening T/B and glider attack.
